Langton Miniatures produce some of the best 1:1200 Napoleonic naval ships I have seen. Each model is sold in a modular fashion. Some of the hulls can be bought with guns run out or in. Then all the models require you to buy a set of sails, these come in different settings including easy, fighting full and furled. The price of the hull and sail differ depending on which type you buy. Each hull is beautifully modelled showing individual planking and ships boats. Using cotton thread you can then enhance the models by semi rigging them. Langton's also sell a very fine mesh sheet that can be cut to size to add ratlines.
The hulls and sails are well sculpted but tend to be marred by flash that requires some careful work to remove. Often the holes on the hull that locates the sails are full of flash and requiring drilling out. Construction of these models takes quite a bit of patients and skill. I would not recommend these models for beginners.
The British range includes the famous Victory and other famous ships from the period. The Models shown and reviewed here are the Indefatigable (44) (razee'd 64) and a 38 gun frigate. The Indefatigable is shown with fighting sails, the lowest set furled. The Frigate is shown with full sails. The models come in ziplock bags and the sails in a separate ziplock bag. The sails come as masts and jib and separately cast the sail courses. These require construction and no instructions were included, as a novice sailor I found matching the correct mast to its sail course very difficult. Both models reviewed here had a fair amount of flash and cast lines that required careful removal. Worst of all was the mast steps in the deck were completely filled with flash and required drilling out.
Once constructed the ships looked good but with the addition of some rigging they soon start to look superb. The only drawback was the length of time it took to build these models.

VERDICT QUALITY VALUE FOR MONEY
Amazing models, but difficult and time consuming to construct. The quality is effected by excesive flash and lack of instructions. As for value for money, good value but not great. The models are quite exspensive but the price shows in the detail.
