Vicker MMG and Crew

British 8th Army

Another fine set of castings from SHQ, this range depicts British Infantry. The range of figures can either be used for 1942 North African battles or 1943 Infantry in Sicily and later in Italy.

The castings have the Mk II steel helmet, which was painted mat sand colour in North Africa and Olive drab in Sicily and Italy. In addition in Sicily and Italy a camouflage net was often covered over the helmet.1937 pattern webbing of which two varieties were available, one for those troops issued with rifles and Light machine guns and the second for those issued with other weapons. SHQ do not seem to make this distinction in there models but it is very trivial. The models are either cast with KD shorts or full length tropical trousers. Those in KD shorts have long socks also known as "hose tops". All the castings then have short puttees and standard issue hobnailed boots.

The Figures come in a wide range of poses and equipment. Heavier weapons are available like the Vickers MMG and correctly attired crews can be purchased for field pieces. The models are highly detailed and accurately scaled. Hardly any flash needed removing from the models I purchased and all the models were properly cast a difficult task with such fine detail. These models again come in zip lock bags, which contain between 3 and 5 men.
