SHQ Marder III Ausf M with Crew

German Flak 18 88mm

The Marder III Ausf M is a great new addition to SHQ's vehicle range as it covers a gap in the plastic model market. I have until recently tried to find a plastic kit for this well used piece of German armor with out success. SHQ's model is of the Ausf M and is highly detailed. The only thing wrong with the kits is the lack of hand bar that should be across the top of the cab. This is missing and no explanation is made in the instructions. It is easily remedied with a piece of fuse wire. My model is shown without but I will be remedying this. Additionally the casting of the tracks and the chassis sides are some what misaligned and require a reasonable amount of filling to prevent gaps.

The Ausf M carried the 75mm PaK 40/3 L/46 in a limited traverse turret of 21 degrees. The weapon was capable piece able to pierce most Allied armor. The vehicle carried 27 rounds of standard ammunition. 975 were built between April 1943 and May 1944 by BMW.

VERDICTQUALITYVALUE FOR MONEY
A nice model with fine detail, I have a pair of these lovely models. This is a relatively easy to build model that even a novice can get good results. Quality is up to SHQ's usual standard. Value for money: - not the cheapest way to buy armor for your war games table, but worth it.
